Description

Grounds Control of Huntsville is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Superintendent with expertise in site work and grading to join our construction team. As an Assistant Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating site work operations, ensuring the successful completion of projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to plan, organize, and supervise all site work and grading activities.
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of construction projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations during site work and grading operations.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of project schedules, budgets, and cost estimates related to site work and grading activities.
  • Coordinate with field engineers, surveyors, and other construction professionals to ensure accurate and efficient execution of site work and grading tasks.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure work meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Address any issues or concerns that arise during site work and grading, working collaboratively with project stakeholders to find effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project progress, including daily reports, timecards, and materials tracking.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to field personnel, promoting a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to site work and grading.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Superintendent or similar role in site work and grading projects.
  • Strong knowledge of site work, dirt, and grading techniques, as well as relevant equipment and materials.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding practical solutions to construction challenges.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using construction management software and tools for scheduling, documentation, and reporting (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid).
  • Commitment to safety and ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
