Description

The primary responsibility of an Irrigation Technician is to perform installations, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems including, but not limited to, computerized systems and controllers.

Irrigation Technician Job Responsibilities:

  • Install irrigation timers, piping, and valves.
  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation pipes and fittings, and sprinkler heads.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components and central irrigation control computers.
  • Perform general and seasonal system maintenance.
  • System start-ups, evaluation, and winterization.
  • Perform backflow tests; Test irrigation systems for the proper functioning of valves and timers; Record detailed inspections.
  • Read diagrams and blueprints to layout and locate irrigation valves, timers, and wiring.
  • Locate, excavate, and repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Responsible for the purchasing of repair parts, and keeping accurate inventory.
  • Keep work vehicles and equipment clean and organized.
  • Think critically to solve problems and complete repairs with minimal impact on lawn or landscape.
  • Effectively assess water efficiency and make adjustments to quickly correct over or under-watering.
  • Be proactive with diagnosing and repairing any irrigation issues.
  • Complete daily paperwork as required by each job.
  • Perform accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Perform such other activities as may be temporarily or permanently assigned.

Irrigation Technician Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be legally able to be employed in Alabama
  • Possess and maintain a valid US Driver's License.
  • Extensive knowledge in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more and excavate/back-filling necessary holes and trenches in a safe manner.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all customers, employees, and those from external organizations.
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • 1-3 years professional experience working with irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
