Description

Grounds Control of Huntsville is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent with a background as a Field Engineer, specializing in site work. As a Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of construction projects, with a focus on site preparation, earthwork, and infrastructure development.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise construction activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Oversee site preparation, earthwork, grading, excavation, and utility installations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality control and identify any potential issues or delays.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to resolve conflicts and address any changes or modifications to the project scope.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and progress reports.
  • If required, pre-qualify and hire all field labor.
  • Manage all field labor to accomplish designated tasks.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the construction team, including subcontractors and field staff.
  • Ensure that all work is completed according to industry standards and best practices.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
  • Review and evaluate all subcontracts and vendor purchase orders prepared by the Project Manager.
  • Enforce jobsite safety to comply with all OSHA regulations and project Safety Program.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent with a specialization in site work, dirt, and infrastructure development.
  • Background as a Field Engineer is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, techniques, and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of site preparation, earthwork, grading, and utility installations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage teams and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations OSHA 30 Hour preferred. If not current, to receive within the first year of employment and keep current.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
